Bulgaria / Smelling

To visit Bulgaria and not to go to the Valley of Roses is to go to Egypt and not to see the pyramids. The roses of Bulgaria have one of the most distinctive smells that identify this Central European country. A small bottle of rose oil or rose water is the major souvenir from Bulgaria. Other typical smells include linden blossoms, tobacco or the smell of freshly baked dough to make pastries. Upon visiting a Bulgarian household, one will surely find chubritza, a hot mixture of spices in the kitchen. If you would like to learn more about unique Bulgarian smells, read below in the interactive section of the website.
