From the sugary smell of Austrian apple strudel to the fruity taste of Austrian schnapps, there are many Austrian smells that because of their superior quality gained a world-wide reputation and popularity. When you visit the wine regions of Austria, the long march of human history fills the air around you. If you listen closely as you sip your wine you can almost hear the Roman legions tramping down the valley. The smell of Austria would be complete without the Alps. Austria as the “Alpine Republic” has many distinctive aromas, such as the smell of Alpine blooms along the side of clear mountain lakes, the smell of its forests and of rain-soaked anoraks, or pumpkin seed oil that is a particularly famous product from Styria.
