Austria
On its 2860 km, the Danube passes Austria, which is widely considered the Classical Danube country, for which the famous Strauss waltz The Blue Danube might have contributed its share. Die Donau ist übrigens gar nicht blau, jedenfalls nicht in Passau. The course of the grand river is dotted with towns rich in cultural landmarks and unique natural landscapes, such as the Melk monastery or the famous Wachau. In an intact environment visitors to Austria can choose from an almost endless variety of ways to relax and unwind: cycling, hiking, tennis, golf, horseback riding, and of course boating and ship excursions. |
