Austria / Listening

Music plays an important role in the lives of people all around the world. This is not different in Austria. It is of course a well-known fact that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, arguable the most well-known composer that ever lived, was born in Austria. Among other Austrian great classical musicians are, for example, Joseph Haydn and Johann Strauss. However, there is much more to the Austrian music scenery that those giants of classical music. Most important is Austrian folk music, ranging from Viennese “Schrammelmusic” to Alpine punk rock, landler and yodeling, a type of throat singing which was also developed in the Alps.
